Wheelchair Basketball: Rolling into Disability Pride Week

October 15, 2026

16 individuals posed on a basketball court in two rows. The back row are standing and the front row are sitting in wheelchairs. Two individuals are holding a basketball.

On October 15, 2026, the Semel HCI Center was proud to co-host a Wheelchair Basketball event with the UCLA Committee on Disability and UCLA Recreation as part of Disability Pride Week!

Held at the John Wooden Center, the event welcomed Bruins of all abilities and experience levels to come together, learn about wheelchair basketball, and try out the sport themselves. Participants had the opportunity to try out sports wheelchairs, learn the basics of the game, and enjoy some friendly competition on the court.

It was a wonderful afternoon celebrating disability pride, inclusion, and community through sports. Thank you to our co-hosts and everyone who stopped by, participated, and helped make this event possible. We had a ton of fun out there on the court!
