Biography

Sophia Knapp (she/they) is a 4th year student at UCLA majoring in Statistics & Data Science and minoring in Environmental Systems & Society. At UCLA, they have explored a variety of interests through clubs, acting as a Marketing Director for ACM, Finance Coordinator for Gamers without Labels, and a data analyst for NSDC quarterly projects. She has also recently joined the Food Data Sourcing Fellowship as a part of UCLA Sustainability. They enjoy art, music, and hiking.

Sophia’s Bonnie Reiss Leading on Climate Fellowship project will follow up on last year’s project by moving beyond tagging sustainable products in JAMIX to focus on forecasting and actively managing sustainable food spend. The fellow will develop a process to project sustainability performance throughout the fiscal year, track whether locations are purchasing expected sustainable products, identify gaps, and recommend corrective actions for the following month. The goal is to shift from year-end reporting to proactive, data-driven management of sustainable purchasing.
