Biography
Krystle Cobian, PhD (she/her/hers) grew up in the Inland Empire, California. She currently serves as the Chief of Staff and Director of Research and Operations for the Center for Developing Leadership in Science at UCLA, the first of its kind in the nation to simultaneously address leadership and workforce pathways in science, conduct scientific research in deep-rooted partnership with community organizations, and strengthen democratic participation in climate and health decisions. Krystle is a double Bruin, having earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Education Studies at UCLA, her Master’s degree at Seattle University in Student Development Administration, and returning to UCLA to earn her Ph.D. in Education. Her research focuses on organizational change, pathways and barriers that impact the scientific workforce, and career experiences for Women of Color in science and health fields. Those who’ve worked with Krystle recognize her for weaving mindfulness, meditation, and reflection into both her work and team activities. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, visiting any and every public park and walkable public space in Los Angeles County, participating in community organizations such as the Filipino American National History Society (FANHS), and spending time with her family.
