Biography

Al Ferrone is the Senior Director of Food & Beverage for
UCLA Housing & Hospitality, where he leads one of the
nation’s premier collegiate dining programs. He oversees
UCLA Dining’s residential restaurants, retail dining, catering,
culinary innovation, and food service operations, helping
deliver an exceptional dining experience to thousands of
students, faculty, staff, and campus guests each day.

Under Al’s leadership, UCLA Dining has consistently been recognized as the #1 Best College Food in America by Niche.com. He has spearheaded the development and launch of several innovative dining concepts,
including Epicuria at Ackerman Union, expanded catering services, enhanced dining support for UCLA Athletics, and led initiatives that emphasize sustainability, locally
sourced ingredients, and increased plant-based dining options.

Following the integration of the UCLA University Club into Housing & Hospitality, Al assumed leadership of its food and beverage operations, guiding the transition into the
department. He led operational improvements, elevated service standards, strengthened financial performance, and enhanced the overall member and guest
experience while preserving the University’s longstanding tradition of hospitality.

Known for his collaborative leadership style, Al has cultivated a culture of innovation and continuous improvement while empowering his teams to deliver exceptional
hospitality. His work has helped position UCLA Dining as a national model for excellence in higher education food service, supporting not only campus operations but
also research collaborations, student wellness, and sustainability initiatives.

In recognition of his leadership and impact, Al received the UCLA Administration True Bruin Values Award, honoring his commitment to service, innovation, integrity, and
excellence. He has also been recognized nationally, alongside UCLA Senior Executive Chef Joey Martin, with the United Fresh Produce Association’s Excellence in Foodservice Award for advancing fresh, produce-focused dining in higher education.
